The Intramural program is for Second and Third Grade players, with Medway Youth Soccer offering both Boys and Girls Intramural programs. While the Instructional and Micro programs focus on fundamental skills through activities and small sided games, the Intramural program introduces a realistic game environment for the first time to begin to prepare players for the Travel program. Our volunteer parent-coaches are instrumental in the curriculum at this level, which continues to build on fundamentals developed earlier, while also emphasizing more advanced skills such as positioning, moving without the ball, and team concepts. Teams consist of a mix of Second and Third Grade players and practice during the week on a day and time determined by the coach. Games on Sundays follow the basic FIFA rules. The format is 7v7 including a goalie and a referee.
When: Teams in the Intramural program practice once during the week (day and time is coach's discretion), and play games on Sunday afternoons. The program runs for 9 weeks.
Where: Practice location is determined by the coach. Games take place at Idylbrook (Field 9 & 10) and Oakland (Field 2)
Cost and Equipment: The Intramural program is $110, which includes a reversible MYS jersey issued to new players to the program. Players are required to wear both shin guards and cleats.
